6 Things To Know About Cellular Shade

Blog

Need new window shades for your home and are considering your options? You may find that cellular shades can be a fine choice. Here are a few things to know about cellular shades.

Thin Profile

Cellular window shades have an incredibly thin profile. The main benefit of this is when the window shades are pulled up to let natural light into your home. The shades will stack in a compact manner at the top of the window, which looks nicer and allows more light in.

Cordless

Cellular shades do not have any cords to move the shades up and down. You move them with your hands since the cords are hidden inside the shades. This also helps create a clean look when the shades are open since you don't have a long cord hanging off to the side.

Energy Efficiency

Cellular shades use a honeycomb design instead of long horizontal slats. The advantage of this design is that it allows air from inside your home to get between the pieces of fabric. This creates an additional layer of air that helps insulate your home, which helps make it more energy-efficient and reduces your energy bills.

Aesthetics

You'll find that there is a wide variety of colors and textures available for cellular window shades, which means that you'll have no problem finding cellular shades to fit the decor of your rooms. Keep in mind that most cellular shades will have a white backing on them, so you don't have to worry about the color you use inside throwing off the aesthetics of your home on the outside when people see the windows. The white backing helps keep everything neutral.

Light Filtration

There are various types of cellular shades that have different levels of light filtration. You have the option to completely black out a room, which will be great for a bedroom where you want it to be completely dark at night and when you wake up in the morning. You can also get cellular shades that have soft light filtering. These offer you privacy, but still let in plenty of natural light during the day where you are not living in darkness.

Top-Down Design

You can upgrade to a cellular shade that moves from the top down as well as the bottom up. This allows you to have privacy where people cannot see in, but still look over the shades to see the outside world. This is a great option for those that have blackout shades and want them open during the day.

thinking through the window buying process

One thing I disliked about my house when I bought it was the fact that the windows were all so small. My house is in a beautiful country setting with no neighbors anywhere to be seen, so I couldn't understand why anyone would want to block the scenery out of the home. I started looking for oversize windows that I could use to bring the stunning country setting inside the home. I find all sorts of windows that would accomplish what I wanted and created a blog to help me choose what windows would be best for my home. Maybe, my thought process can help you find the perfect windows for your home.
