What Are Your Different Window Blind Options?

Blog

Window blinds can prevent excess light from accessing your house and ensure privacy while improving your home's aesthetics. Additionally, blinds can enhance your house's energy efficiency by reflecting light, which prevents overheating. Unlike window curtains that have high maintenance requirements, blinds typically have low maintenance requirements. However, selecting the ideal blind is essential to enjoy these benefits. If you're shopping for blinds, the following are some blind types to consider.

Rolling Blinds

Rolling screens consist of fabric that wraps around a pole at the window's top. The material comes in different designs and colors, and you can choose a fabric depending on your preferences. The blind's bottom also has a string that facilitates closing the blind when you pull it down.

The screens lock and will only unlock when you pull the string downwards again. Rolling blind designs usually provide insulation indoors. This makes them suitable for windows that are exposed to direct sunlight or wind.

Vertical Blinds

Manufacturers usually use fabric or vinyl to make vertical screens. These screens run from the top of the window or glass door. Also, the blinds don't open by raising or lowering. In contrast, vertical blinds open by sliding them sideways. The opening direction, however, isn't fixed and largely depends on your door or window orientation. Most importantly, the blinds are affordable, and their installation is simple.

Cellular Blinds

Cellular window screens resemble a honeycomb and are usually made of thin fabric. These blinds trap air that helps boost the insulation properties of your windows, making your house more energy-efficient. Since cellular screens are excellent insulators, they're perfect for your living room or bedrooms as that's where you spend most of your time while indoors. Additionally, the installation of cellular blinds is straightforward, which means lower installation expenses.

Panel Blinds

Panel screens hang vertically and consist of thin fabric with broad parts. The screens open by sliding them back. During this process, the panels slide together instead of the tilting or rotating mechanism for vertical screens. They're perfect for glass doors as they're easy to clean and can be more economical.

While all window screens come in various designs, you should get custom blinds. Custom options allow you to choose the exact design details and size. Blind installation services usually take the precise measurements of the door or window. Then, they create a perfect fitting blind for easy installation and a neat appearance. Besides, custom blinds avoid wastage of material in the case of an oversized blind.

The common window blind types include cellular, panel, rolling, and vertical blinds. Consider these options when shopping for window blinds.

thinking through the window buying process

One thing I disliked about my house when I bought it was the fact that the windows were all so small. My house is in a beautiful country setting with no neighbors anywhere to be seen, so I couldn't understand why anyone would want to block the scenery out of the home. I started looking for oversize windows that I could use to bring the stunning country setting inside the home. I find all sorts of windows that would accomplish what I wanted and created a blog to help me choose what windows would be best for my home. Maybe, my thought process can help you find the perfect windows for your home.
